Campaign: Project Sunlight
Company: Unilever
Nonprofit Partner: World Food Programme, Save the Children, UNICEF
Launch Date: November 20, 2013
Campaign:
Unilever has launched Project Sunlight, a new initiative to motivate millions of people to adopt more sustainable lifestyles. Focused primarily on parents, the first stage of Project Sunlight asks consumers to watch an online video, get more information and then join the movement. To launch the project, Unilever will be helping 2 million children through its ongoing partnerships, providing school meals through the World Food Programme; supporting Save the Children to provide clean, safe drinking water; and improved hygiene through UNICEF.
Our Take:
The most exciting part of this initiative is the large umbrella it uses to showcase a wide line of Unilever brands and their cause- and sustainably-focused efforts. Project Sunlight’s online portal translates Unilever’s efforts into tangible, accessible content and invites consumers to take steps to learn more about nonprofit partners and issues. The online portal counts over 24 million “acts of sunlight” to date, which can include joining the community or clicking to get more information. We’re excited to watch the rollout of this global, consumer-facing movement and for its potential to change the face of how corporate sustainability is communicated to stakeholders.
