Tom’s of Maine has partnered with TerraCycle to give a second life to personal care product packaging with the launch of the Tom’s of Maine Natural Care Brigade. For each piece of packaging collected and sent in, the collector earns points that can be put toward charity gifts or converted to cash and paid to any school or non-profit organization. Any individual, family, group or school can join for free and all shipping costs are pre-paid.
Our Take:
This new Tom’s of Maine partnership showcases the TerraCycle model and provides consumers with an easy way to recycle everyday items (as well as an incentive for doing so). Keeping competitor brand containers out of landfills as well as their own makes a strong statement about the Tom’s of Maine brand. The campaign kicks off with a $1000 sweepstakes – a smart way to entice participants to get involved early. The TerraCycle model makes it easy for sustainably-minded companies to put their brand values into action, involve consumers and address a real environmental issue, a winning partnership if we’ve ever seen one!
