The School Fundraising App, by InfoScout, Doubles 2014 Contribution
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — InfoScout, the leading provider of real-time shopper insights, announced today that thousands of schools across America have earned more than eight hundred thousand dollars through its school fundraising mobile app, Shoparoo, more than doubling the amount contributed in 2014. Shoparoo will also award additional sweepstakes prizes, ranging from $1,000 to $15,000, to participating schools later this month, for an additional $23,500 in donations.
Shoparoo is a free mobile app where users take pictures of their receipts and earn rewards for their school of choice for each receipt submitted – regardless of where they shop or what they buy. Participants earn rewards for a wide variety of receipts, including those from grocery stores, restaurants, and electronics retailers. Grocery receipts earn cash donations, while all other receipts earn entries into both a $1,000 monthly sweepstakes and the $15,000 annual sweepstakes.
“As a former teacher, I can recall many times when my colleagues and I would buy extra school supplies to help needy students or to make our lessons more impactful. School administrators and teachers are always in need of additional funds to better educate and serve our children,” said Jared Schrieber, co-founder and CEO of InfoScout. “Shoparoo offers the simplest fundraising opportunity — every receipt counts, regardless of where parents shop or what they buy. We are proud to offer a hassle-free fundraising solution to every school in America as we turn retailers’ market research needs into opportunities to infuse more cash into America’s schools.”
Scattered throughout the country, from urban New York City to rural Montana, this year’s top-earning schools generated between $1,000 and $5,000 and can use the funds without restrictions. Shoparoo schools often put these funds toward much-needed projects, like adding a new electronic school marquee, playground upgrades, and new classroom supplies.
Administrators, teachers, and parents alike have hailed Shoparoo as a tremendous school fundraising tool. Participants can earn unlimited rewards for their school of choice without any out-of-pocket expense. “As a PTO President, I am always looking for new and innovative ways to raise money for our school and last year one of our parents brought Shoparoo to our attention,” said Sarah Cervino of East Pikeland Elementary School in Phoenixville, Penn. “Earning money is easy to do, downloading the app is quick and painless, and communicating the program to parents is stress-free using the information provided on the website. It’s so exciting to have a painless way to earn money year round for our school!”
In addition, Shoparoo recently launched a partnership with Crayola for Back to School offering daily giveaways of backpacks full of school supplies and prizes of $1,000 worth of Crayola school supplies.
Behind the scenes, InfoScout anonymizes and aggregates the receipt data, which is then analyzed to discover insights into purchasing trends. Retailers and consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies, like Unilever, PepsiCo, and Clorox, then pay for these insights to improve their products and their marketing campaigns. It’s these revenues that fund the much-needed donations to America’s schools.
