KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Eight hundred Kansas City families in need will receive enough food to supplement meals for a week plus daily essentials, thanks to a partnership between PepsiCo and Feed the Children. The event kicks off at 11 a.m. CT at Manual Career & Technical Center, 1215 E. Truman Rd., Kansas City, Mo.
This is the second year PepsiCo and Feed the Children have partnered to help feed families in Kansas City, where more than 22 percent of the population lives below the poverty line1. This event is part of a larger initiative between the two organizations to help feed communities in cities throughout the United States.
The receiving families have been identified and preselected by Operation Breakthrough, a Kansas City-based not-for-profit corporation working to provide a nurturing and safe environment for children in poverty.
“We’re excited to partner with Feed the Children and Operation Breakthrough helping our friends and neighbors in the Kansas City community,” said David Hartwell, sales zone director, Midwest region, PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division. “Frito-Lay and PepsiCo are committed to giving back to our communities where we live and work, and providing enough food to supplement meals for a week is a small way we can help make a difference.”
“We recognize hunger can’t be fought alone, but by working together, we can provide food and essentials to millions of children and families who live in poverty,” said Travis Arnold, president and CEO of Feed the Children. “The work Feed the Children does would be impossible without the support of our corporate partners.”
Each qualifying recipient at today’s event will be given:
One 25-pound box of nonperishable food items
One 15-pound box of personal-care items
One box of AVON products
One 20-count bag of Frito-Lay Better-For-You Variety Pack
Life Original Cereal

Volunteers from PepsiCo, Feed the Children and Operation Breakthrough will be onsite serving families and assisting with distribution during today’s event.
