Online toy retailer YoYo.com has partnered with KaBOOM! in a new refer-a-friend cause marketing effort. New customers referred by existing YoYo.com customers will receive a code for 20% off their first order, plus YoYo will make a donation of $5 to “Save Play” with KaBOOM! ($10 in February). In addition, every new Facebook “Like” received by YoYo.com will generate an additional $1 donation.
Our Take:
We love that YoYo.com has tied the KaBOOM! cause into their robust refer-a-friend program. Marketing their cause efforts to existing customers does create a somewhat exclusive feel to this program and likely makes the cause message resonate a bit louder. As an outsider, we had to dig pretty deep to find mention of this effort on the YoYo.com site and even the YoYo.com Facebook page made no mention of the campaign.
