Cox Communications has launched its first cause marketing campaign on Facebook in support of Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). When Cox Facebook fans upload a photo into a holiday-themed virtual snow globe, Cox will donate one dollar to BGCA up to $10,000.
Our Take:
At first glance, this appears to be a typical action-for-donation Facebook cause marketing campaign. Of interest is its short, 10-day run time and the added ability for users to share their holiday-themed snow globe via email in addition to typical social media channels – something we've not seen thus far and a brilliant idea, in our opinion. Also of note is that this particular cause campaign runs parallel to an independent holiday sweepstakes campaign found on a separate tab on the company's Facebook page, also not typical.
