Campaign: Get Angry – Fight Extinction
Company: Rovio
Nonprofit Partner: BirdLife International
Launch Date: December 1, 2011
[/box]Campaign Description:
In a new message-focused campaign, Rovio has launched a new Angry Birds website in support of The BirdLife Preventing Extinctions Programme, encouraging fans to play the latest version of Angry Birds for Chrome online, to get angry about extinctions and to make a donation – providing vital help for ‘the world’s 189 angriest birds’ (those which BirdLife International classifies as Critically Endangered).
Our Take:
Although we typically stick to North American companies, Angry Birds is such a part of American pop culture that we couldn't resist sharing this one. Rovio has gone above and beyond to incorporate true 'Angry Birds' into this new website, leveraging its game's huge popularity to influence a real-world issue. We can't help but be a little curious about whether a monetary donation accompanies this campaign but certainly the visibility alone is worth its weight in golden eggs.
