In May of 2020, JUST Capital partnered with The Harris Poll to conduct the What Americans Want from Corporate America During the Response, Reopening, and Reset Phases of the Coronavirus Crisis Survey – which asked 1,000 U.S. adults how business should evolve for a better tomorrow.
The survey found that:
- Only about a quarter believe our current form of capitalism ensures the greater good of society, and 29% believe it produces the kind of society they want for the next generation or believe it works for the average American.
- 83% of Americans say that their opinion of a company improves when executives forgo salaries, bonuses, and other compensation.
- 56% of Americans believe companies should take support from the government to help cover wages during slowdowns.
