2023 Best Education Initiative
In keeping with its Subaru Love Promise Campaign, which commits to making an impact in the communities where employees live and work, Subaru of America (SOA) partnered with AdoptAClassroom.org (AAC) to address the inequity that exists in classrooms when students lack necessary learning materials. For the 2nd year Subaru teamed up with AAC to provide thousands of teachers across the country with funding ($500/classroom) to purchase resources and this year also donated classroom supply kits as well.
Provide funding and supplies to teachers in high-need schools and engage Subaru retailers and headquarters employees in implementing a program that reflects the company’s commitment to making a positive impact in the communities it serves.
SOA and AAC collaborated to match 621 retailers with high-need schools and work with school administrators to select teachers to support. An astounding 98% of retailers opted into the program.
Teachers received $500 in AAC credit to purchase materials of most use to them in their work, and in 2022, SOA and retailers donated 4,000+ Classroom Supply Kits worth $500K. The kits contained essential school supplies, adoption certificates and milkweed seeds that transformed into butterfly gardens.
SOA and ACC created many ways for retailers and customers to experience the Subaru Loves Learning campaign, such as having employees pack and distribute supply kits, consumers express gratitude to teachers via in-store displays and collecting thank yous from teachers and students that were shared with the local retailers that supported them.
Subaru Loves Learning funded $3.3 million in $500 AAC grants to 5,699 teachers and donated 4,285 classroom supply kits to high-need schools. The campaign yielded millions of positive local and national media impressions, further cementing consumers’ perception of Subaru as a company committed to making a positive impact in the communities where its people live and work.
