A partnership between Dole Packaged Foods and Roy Choi, the 3 World's Cafe Food Truck will provide healthy beverages and snacks to all of Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, July 1, 2015 /PR Newswire/ — The 3 Worlds Cafe food truck, a community partnership between Chef Roy Choi and Dole Packaged Foods, hit the streets June 30th with a goal of not only providing delicious and nutritious snacks, but getting kids off the streets and arming them with the skills for success. The food truck is an extension of the brick and mortar location Choi and Dole started in South Central Los Angeles in 2011, which offers the one-of-a-kind Dole Whip, topped with fruit, as well as pastries, coffees and smoothies.
The original 3 Worlds Cafe was brought to life by students of Jefferson High School, the surrounding community, and with the professional assistance of award-winning chef Roy Choi of Kogi and Dole Packaged Foods. The collaboration brought healthy food options, job skills and business training for the local community. Since its inception, the concept of the cafe has transitioned from a school lunch cart to main street cafe and now to a food truck — following in Roy Choi’s footsteps.
“Communities come together around great food,” said Roy Choi, chef and co-founder of Kogi. “In taking 3 World’s Cafe mobile, we have the exciting opportunity to bring good food at an affordable price point to more Angelenos, as well as further unite and educate our communities.”
The 3 Worlds Cafe food truck will serve Dole Whip (soft serve frozen dessert) with fruit toppings, as well as Dole Whip Floats, Mango Bombs (Mango, pineapple, bananas, coconut milk, lemon juice, agave, pineapple juice), Fresca and Bananas (strawberries, bananas, pineapple juice, agave), Dole Banana Dippers, coffee, tea and pastries all within an affordable $3- $6 price range.
“When we launched 3 Worlds Cafe in 2011 we were excited to make a positive impact in South Central,” said Stuart McAllister, Vice President, Food Service Sales and Marketing for Dole Packaged Foods. “With the new food truck, the impact will spread across the Los Angeles area and make it easier for communities to access healthier beverage and snack options.”
The food truck will be partnering up with the Kogi Truck during its first few months on the road and making its way around Los Angeles. To find the truck, follow @3worldscafe on Twitter.

ABOUT KOGI AND ROY CHOI
Thanksgiving of 2008, Kogi BBQ had first rolled out as the little Korean-taco-truck-that-could, peddling $2.00 Korean barbecue tacos on the streets of L.A. Within a few months, Kogi became an icon of LA street food, a roving symbol of rebellion, independence and the belief that excellent food can be had on a dime budget. Within a few short years of putting street food on the map and on the minds of the everyday diner, Kogi has become a kind of iconoclastic symbol wherein legends are born and rules are made to be broken. The Kogi family has since opened up its counters in Culver City at the Alibi Room and its first sit-down restaurant Chego! in Chinatown. Co-founder of Kogi, Roy Choi, is a classically trained chef, who after twelve years of gourmet cooking, took to the streets of his hometown in L.A. to create the food truck movement we know today. Using Twitter to help fans locate the truck, Choi and the Kogi team’s efforts have been dubbed the “first viral eatery” by Newsweek.
