A coalition of five watchdog groups issued a joint press release in December 2009 warning that overhead ratios and executive salaries are very flawed tools for evaluating nonprofits. A better alternative, they advised, is to judge charities based on effectiveness. Better tools for doing so are on the way. (12/14/09)
