'Big Shopping Week' Events and Activations to Begin on November 23rd through November 30th
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — This holiday season, Westfield is focusing on the importance and joy that comes from giving to others, with a special campaign titled ‘Unwrap Westfield.’
“Spreading joy is what the holiday season is all about and the holidays are a powerful inflection point in the year, when we collectively agree that giving is more important than receiving, and bringing warmth and joy to others is a gift in itself,” says Myf Ryan, CMO Westfield Corporation.
UNWRAP SURPRISE:
Starting Monday, November 23, Westfield centers around the nation will kick-off the holiday season with a jam-packed week full of special events, giveaways, philanthropy, and more.
Westfield’s Merry Makers will make a special visit to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. From arts and crafts, to a dance party, and Joy Show performance, Merry Makers will be on hand to spread holiday cheer to the patients and their families. As a proud supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Westfield Corporation will be making a donation of $25,000 to kick start the Thanks & Giving campaign and what they hope will lead to many more donations throughout the season.
On Tuesday, November 24, the first fifty children to visit Santa at select Westfield locations will receive a complimentary toy from Disney Junior’s The Octonauts. Additionally, shoppers at Westfield Annapolis will be able to enjoy Octonauts-themed shows and Christmas-themed karaoke throughout the day.
On Wednesday, November 25, the first fifty families to visit Santa at select Westfield centers will receive a copy of the self-titled deluxe album by platinum selling group Pentatonix.
Starting November 28 throughout November 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Merry Makers will be surprising guests at Westfield centers with special acts of kindness and giving. “Westfield is proud to work with the Merry Makers for the third year in a row. Every holiday season, Westfield is committed to provide an enjoyable experience to our retailers, employees, and of course the shoppers who look forward to seeing the Merry Makers every year,” says Myf Ryan, CMO Westfield Corporation.
On November 30, the best Cyber Monday experience will not be online, but will be at various Westfield centers across the U.S. Together with Sony Music, Samsung Milk VR (virtual reality) and Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus, Westfield shoppers at UTC, Topanga, San Francisco Centre, Valley Fair, Montgomery, and Garden State Plaza will have the opportunity to experience a special 360-degree virtual reality performance by platinum selling and Grammy award winning group Pentatonix. This will be the first-ever virtual reality experience for the band and their performance of “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” will be available exclusively on Samsung Milk VR, a premium virtual reality content service. Viewers can use the Samsung Gear VR in the centers and be placed in a virtual reality private balcony as band members emerge from the Christmas-themed set singing directly to the viewer. Shoppers who visit these centers will be able to try out Samsung Gear VR, the first smartphone-powered virtual reality device and an entirely new mobile experience.
For those who are not able to experience the virtual reality performance, the first 50 families to visit Santa at select Westfield centers on November 30th will receive a copy of Pentatonix’s holiday CD, “That’s Christmas to Me.”
UNWRAP HOPE:
Beginning on Black Friday and continuing through Christmas, Westfield shoppers can support St. Jude Children’s Hospital Thanks and Giving campaign. On select dates throughout the holiday season, children waiting to see Santa will be invited by the Merry Makers to pay it forward with the opportunity to give a gift to a child at St. Jude. Each child will be given a special wristband and a gift tag that will include the story of a St. Jude patient along with a donation amount (from .25 cents to $10). The child will write his/her name on the tag and hang it on a dedicated Giving Tree. The amounts on all of the tags will then be tallied and a donation will be made by Westfield to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
UNWRAP JOY:
Westfield is going the extra mile this holiday season by providing key services to ensure that customers have a good experience. Select Westfield centers will be offering valet parking, shuttles, gift wrapping, answers on the spot, as well as providing Guest Service Ambassadors.
