EFG transitioned to new leadership in 2023 with an exciting and ambitious vision for how we can better support the corporate social impact sector. Our team has tripled in size, and with early success of our new ideas, we are gearing up to grow our impact considerably in 2025, with a particular focus on building year-round engagement opportunities for our community of leaders.
About the role: The Head of Events and Community Engagement will oversee EFG’s growing roster of in-person and virtual events that connect corporate social impact leaders globally. You’ll oversee EFG’s annual conference, develop scalable and repeatable regional and virtual event formats, oversee all event production, and ensure all activations meet EFG’s standards for quality, ROI, and mission. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll identify and build opportunities to engage our community of corporate social impact leaders year-round outside of our marquee events.
Key Responsibilities
Event Planning and Execution
- Lead the execution of EFG’s marquee annual Engage for Good conference coming up in April 2025 including ensuring all project plans are moving forward in a timely manner.
- Lead the execution of The Halo Awards ensuring the full judging and awards selection process, along with The Halo Awards Gala are run smoothly in partnership with event contractors.
- Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for high-impact, multi-day conferences, regional events, and virtual events.
- Plan and manage event logistics, including venue selection, contract negotiations, F&B selections, set and strike plans, floor plans, run of show, seating, speaker logistics, speaker/VIP transportation, décor, signage, and audio/visual needs.
- Develop and implement standardized internal event playbooks and best practices to ensure consistency across all events, from speaker and partner onboarding to volunteer and vendor management.
- Demonstrate expertise in creating unique, repeatable event formats that blend practical learning, community building, and fun.
- Ensure all tasks tied to event operations are consistent, strategic, and well-managed, including overseeing two full-time team members plus temporary staff, volunteers, and contractors.
Budget and Financial Management
- Design and manage event budgets, including forecasting, expense tracking, and post-event reconciliation.
- Develop fiscally responsible strategies to ensure consistent quality across all event budgets.
- Partner with the Head of Partnerships to build revenue diversification strategies through sponsorship, partnership, and other engagement opportunities.
- Partner with the CEO to establish cost-control measures, expense optimization protocols, and cash flow monitoring systems.
Community Engagement and Relationship Building
- Develop and implement a strategy to engage the Engage for Good community year-round outside of in-person events.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, creating meaningful touchpoints and fostering ongoing collaboration.
- Oversee peer-to-peer networking initiatives and activities that facilitate connection and knowledge-sharing among community members.
- Collaborate with content and marketing teams to showcase community members’ successes and amplify their stories.
- Partner with content and marketing teams to develop attendee acquisition and conversion strategies and design post-event content strategies to extend the event lifecycle and maximize impact.
- Collaborate on multi-channel content strategies, including social media, email, and blogs, to engage our community and promote events.
Measurement and Continuous Improvement
- Establish frameworks for measuring and improving participant satisfaction, community growth, conversion metrics, and event optimization.
- Design multi-touchpoint engagement journeys before, during, and after events.
- Build systems for capturing and implementing community feedback and data insights.
Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Manage and mentor a team of event professionals, including two full-time staff and part-time contractors, focusing on coaching, talent development, and performance management.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing peers and senior stakeholders to align event strategies with business objectives.
- Translate business goals into experiential and sponsorship strategies with measurable impact.
- Lead cross-departmental initiatives to optimize attendee touchpoints and drive growth.
Technology and Innovation
- Stay current on event trends and integrate innovative practices into event design and management.
- Master advanced technical skills in event management platforms and data analytics.
- Implement and customize event management and project management tools, such as Asana.
Qualifications:
Event Management Experience
- 5-7+ years of experience planning and executing large-scale, multi-day events, trade shows, or conferences (in-person and virtual) with 500+ attendees.
- Expertise in event operating procedures, event marketing, and sponsorship strategies, with a track record of raising the bar on event experiences.
- Familiarity with event management platforms (e.g., Whova, Cvent, etc.), CRM tools, and virtual event technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in event management, hospitality, marketing, or a related field preferred (Master’s degree is a plus). Equivalent work experience may substitute for formal education, provided a strong track record of success is demonstrated.
- Strong background in data analysis and the ability to create and implement event strategies that align with organizational goals.

- Proven experience in managing and mentoring diverse teams, with the ability to attract and develop top talent.
- Skilled at fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values diversity and equity.

Project and Budget Management
- Excellent project management skills, with experience managing multiple priorities, tight deadlines, and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Strong budget management skills, including financial reporting, cost control, and resource optimization.
- Ability to evaluate, develop, and edit timelines, briefing materials, and event documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and relevant database tools.
- Experience implementing and customizing event management software and using data-driven approaches to improve performance.

Compensation and Benefits:
- $90,000-110,000 + performance based bonus.
