National Director, Corporate Partnerships
Develops and executes strategy to deliver corporate revenue in support of Breakthrough T1D’s mission from corporate partnerships outside of the diabetes industry. Cultivates and maintains strategic business relationships with national corporate partners to secure funding for our organizational priorities at the $100,000 plus level. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving and managing a $5M+ annual portfolio of existing and new partnerships. Leads the organization’s efforts to maintain and expand relationships delivering advanced levels of service, support and additional ways to engage with Breakthrough T1D.
Major responsibilities include driving revenue through implementing, account management best practices of corporate partnerships for Breakthrough T1D, engaging all levels of the partner organization to support Breakthrough T1D, collaborating with our staff and volunteers, upgrading and generating new sales from existing accounts, and delivering agreed upon assets and benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Meets and exceeds yearly revenue goals for existing corporate portfolio and contributes to accomplishing the organization’s and corporate development yearly revenue goals.
- Manages portfolio of corporate accounts that drive $5M+ annually for Breakthrough T1D’s mission.
- Account management includes all activities related to cultivating and stewarding relationships hosting partner meetings, developing account contacts across the partner organization including executive leaders and decision-makers, developing and implementing strategic account plans, working across internal teams to develop funding opportunities, cross-selling Breakthrough T1D initiatives and fundraising events, delivering on agreed upon assets and benefits, tracking activity and agreements in CRM, negotiating to renew agreements and upgrade support to the organization.
- Works with internal program teams (development, research, advocacy, marketing, etc.) to determine product budget and sponsorship fees. Secures multi-year agreements through this process.
- Meets regularly with accounts in portfolio to understand the partner’s business priorities, informs on Breakthrough T1D’s mission advancement because of their support, secures engagement in other Breakthrough T1D events and activities, uses consultative selling to position activations with Breakthrough T1D to meet partner business objectives. Demonstrates partner’s return on investment and impact on the Breakthrough T1D mission through in-person or virtual meetings and other documentation.
- Serves as account lead for each partnership and builds account team consisting of program leads and chapter staff to support partnership with the organization and deepening engagement with the organization on both the national and local levels.
- Accountable for execution of deliverables for all national corporate partnership agreements working in partnerships with the Director, Corporate Operations and internal stakeholders.
- Creates impact and key performance indicator reports for all national corporate accounts. This will include both post agreement and at least twice per year for annual or multi-year agreements.
- Manages the negotiation of the legal contracts or Letter of Agreement. Responsibilities include drafting the sponsorship contract; collaborating with Breakthrough T1D’s legal department; and negotiating with the sponsoring corporation and corporation’s legal department, and internal national staff managing the sponsored organizational priority.
- Ensures that adequate Breakthrough T1D approval and approval processes are completed and if required, total project management needs are accomplished. Works with internal teams and the internal account servicing team to complete the sponsorship project, assuring that the client receives the sponsorship benefits outlined in the contract.
- Serves as a corporate partnership expert for the organization and facilitates corporate partner engagement across all Breakthrough T1D internal teams defining best-in-class account management for the organization.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of corporate social responsibility (CSR) trends, CSR initiatives, ESG trends and Stewardship.
- Manages the Director, Corporate Development and National Manager, Corporate Partnerships providing coaching, mentoring and feedback against job responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- 8 years of experience in sales and sales management experience, particularly in selling intangible programs and services. Nonprofit sales and account management preferred.
- College degree in Business/Marketing/Management, Health Promotion or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Solid foundation of and experience in utilizing consultative selling processes.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate sound management practices and employ diplomacy skills to achieve desired outcomes.
- Aptitude and experience in sales, marketing, business strategy development, client management and sales contract negotiation. Ability to develop and execute sales and marketing strategies.
- Ability to develop relationships on behalf of Breakthrough T1D in the for-profit sector and interact effectively with representatives of major national corporations, retailers, manufacturers, and their agencies demonstrating knowledge of corporate sustainability and corporate philanthropy, cause marketing, shared value, non-profit trends and expectations.
- Ability to lead cross-functional internal teams to develop strategic account plans that meet Breakthrough T1D’s organizational priorities while maximizing engagement and funding support from the corporate partner and its employees.
- Excellent writing, presentation and communications skills are critical to this position. Experience developing and delivering presentations to both large and small groups.
- Fortitude for organizational communication, process management, team building, conflict resolution, mental flexibility and multi-tasking are critical for success.
- Ability to analyze ambiguous situations, find alternatives, interpret rules and adopt practical solutions. Experience in negotiations including the ability to problem-solve and conceptualize.
- Ability to work through change based on the organization, accounts, prospects and Corporate Development goals.
- Ability to consult and interact with high level executives including Breakthrough T1D executive team, Sr Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Directors and Managers as well as Fortune 1000 CEOs, Presidents, and Vice Presidents.
- Ability to effectively manage an independent work style and prioritize multiple ongoing projects.
- Ability to plan and conduct effective meetings based on resolution strategies and goals.
- Proficiency with technology, specifically related to CRM platforms and business tools.
- Ability to travel (up to 40% of the time) for extended periods of time, including overnight trips up to a full week.
- Significant computer literacy (MS Office and CRM systems).
- Experience leading, motivating, developing, and mentoring direct reports preferred.
- Master’s degree in Business/Marketing/Management, Health Promotion or related field preferred
Target Salary – $100k – $133k
