Brighton partners with Soles4Souls to Collect Shoes For Those in Need Between April 12th and May 17th, 2015
LOS ANGELES, April 14, 2015 /PR Newswire/ — More than a billion people worldwide are without a single pair of shoes – leaving them vulnerable to injuries and infections that those of us who have multiple pairs of shoes never have to face.
That is why, for the sixth consecutive year, Brighton has launched a drive to help Soles4Souls. In one of their largest charitable campaigns, more than 187 Brighton locations across America are collecting new and gently-worn shoes between April 12th through May 17th.
This year, Brighton hopes to collect more than 100,000 pairs of shoes for the charity. As owner and founder Jerry Kohl explains, “While we can’t change the past for families in need, we can help with tomorrow by providing one of life’s most basic necessities – a pair of shoes.”
“Working with Brighton continues to be a terrific experience,” said Soles4Souls CEO, Buddy Teaster. “Every year, their team finds new and creative ways to engage their employees and their customers. Given Brighton’s history of innovation and quality, I wouldn’t expect anything else! Through their efforts over the last six years, people in dozens of countries have a better life. We’re honored to partner with such a caring, committed company.”
The donated shoes will be delivered to Soles4Souls, an international anti-poverty organization that monetizes new and gently used shoes and clothing to create sustainable jobs and fund direct relief efforts, including distribution of new shoes and clothing.
Soles4Souls – which holds the highest rating from nonprofit watchdog Charity Navigator – contributes to environmental sustainability. Most of the reusable shoes will be distributed to microenterprise programs that create jobs in Haiti and other poor nations. The resulting revenue will help fund the free distribution of new shoes in the U.S. and overseas. Among its relief programs, the organization has distributed nearly 200,000 pairs of shoes to help Philippine victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
By participating in this drive, the people of Brighton are sending a message, that almost anyone with a closet has shoes they don’t wear, or an old pair that will just end up in a landfill. They invite you to donate your shoes and take a step toward making the world a better place.
