Prescription For Good: Watertree Health and Make-A-Wish America
Watertree Health is a health care company providing free prescription discount cards to address the growing need for affordable medicines.
The company launched “Prescription for Good” in 2013 with a pilot program featuring a prescription discount card benefitting Make-A-Wish
(the company also has programs with local food banks and ASPCA). For
every prescription discounted using the card, Watertree Health donates $.50 to to help grant wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses. The campaign established a unique positioning for the prescription discount card—the only one that triggers a donation to a nonprofit year-round. The business objectives were to generate at least one million
scripts in year one, demonstrate continued growth, attract and retain company representatives (a key driver of scripts) and be able to show a significant social impact.
In 2016, Prescription for Good generated over 2.5 million scripts, saw a representative retention rate of 70% (industry average is 15%) and donated over $1,200,000 helping grant more than 120 wishes for kids with life-threatening medical conditions.
