Toshiba will leverage a new Facebook page to solicit videos from nonprofit organizations who will self-nominate via a 2-minute video to win a technology makeover. Open for submissions October 28, Toshiba will select five finalists who will each receive up to $30,000 in donations of Toshiba products and services. The nonprofit organization that receives the mosts votes via Facebook will receive a $100,000 prize package in Toshiba products and services.
Our Take:
Another in a long string of online voting contests, Toshiba will rely on the power of nonprofit communities to bring fans to this new Facebook page. Toshiba is smart to keep the barrier to entry low for nonprofit organizations (submitting a 2-minute video) and to offer a guaranteed minimum to the five finalists. This success of this campaign will lie in Toshiba’s ability to solicit compelling stories via nonprofit submissions about how technology can transform a community.
