Campaign: Aldo’s Giving Tuesday Campaign
Company: Aldo
Nonprofit Partner: American Red Cross
Launch Date: November 27, 2012
Campaign Description:
Shoe brand Aldo has rolled out a Giving Tuesday effort via a donation-matching campaign on Twitter, asking its community to tweet what they’re doing for Giving Tuesday. Each tweet tagged with @Aldo_shoes and #GivingTuesday will unlock a $5 donation to the American Red Cross up to $5,000. Aldo is also putting donation boxes in its New York stores, and matching each donation.
Our Take:
Although many companies have stepped in to participate in the inaugural year of Giving Tuesday, few have opted for a cause marketing angle (see our list of those that have on our Giving Tuesday Pinterest Board). The very fabric of Giving Tuesday is to show and share charitable efforts with others – what better way to accomplish this than cause marketing? Aldo is wise to conduct part of their campaign on Twitter, which seems to be the hot spot for the Giving Tuesday effort. Supplementing with an off-line, in store effort just makes this effort all the stronger. We’re eager to hear more cause marketing stories from Giving Tuesday, so please share either in the comments below or on our Pinterest Board!
