Campaign: Super Back to School Saturday
Company: Sears
Nonprofit Partner: Boys and Girls Clubs and other nonprofits
Launch Date: August 5, 2012
Campaign Description:
Sears has announced a “Super Back-to-School Saturday” event on August 11, 2012. On this day only, Sears will donate up to $70,000 of all apparel, footwear and fine jewelry purchases made using a downloadable 15 percent off savings pass, both in-store and online. Donations will directly benefit charities affiliated with Sears’ Team Up to Stop Bullying. In addition to the 15 percent off pass, other promotions surrounding Sears’ “Super Back-to-School Saturday” will include various social media product giveaways and other specials offered to shoppers when checking in on Foursquare.
Our Take:
Sears offers the latest in a string of back-to-school cause-related marketing efforts, smartly tying a downloadable 15% off coupon with their donation. Their ‘Team Up to Stop Bullying’ website is chock full of anti-bullying resources, with the Boys and Girls Clubs front and center. Dig as we may, however, we couldn’t find a list of the “other nonprofits associated” with this campaign to which donations are funneled.
