We are thrilled you’ll be joining us as a breakout session speaker at the 2017 Engage for Good Conference. Here are all the details you’ll need to prepare for a successful event. If you have any questions, please email Megan Strand for assistance.
HOTEL
If you have not yet booked your room at the JW Marriott Chicago, please do so ASAP. Using this link will take you directly to our conference room block, which always sells out. You can also call 1-877-303-0104 and ask for the Engage for Good room block rate.
TRAVEL
Is your travel booked yet? Just a friendly reminder to do so!
YOUR SESSION LOGISTICS
Please check the online program to confirm your exact speaking time. Room assignments will also be posted here in the future as we get closer to the event. Please plan to be in your breakout session room at least 30 minutes prior to the start of your session (sometimes this may mean leaving a keynote session a few minutes early).
PRESENTATION AND AUDIO VISUAL DETAILS
May 17th is the deadline for sending us your preliminary slide deck/outline. To make sure your presentation goes off without a hitch, it’s important that you send it to us on time. These presentations will be shared via a conference dashboard with all attendees.
Computer: If you are developing a slide deck for your breakout session, please plan to use your computer as the presentation computer. An A/V technician will be on site to help you connect your computer to the LCD projector. Please bring any dongles or connectors needed for your machine or contact us if you do not have the correct connectors and need us to source those for you.
Format: Please incorporate this conference logo (all-white version here) in your slide deck.
Are you planning to use video in your presentation? We need to know! Recommended formats are .avi or .mov. Sorry, no internet video will be permitted due to low quality and buffering challenges. If you have an internet video you’d like to show, we may be able to help you convert it to a hard file.
Key Learnings: When you send us your presentation, please email us 3 to 5 key learnings at the core of your presentation. We will share this via the conference dashboard to reduce the amount of note taking people have to do and help people learn who were not able to attend your session.
Key to this is boiling down the key actionable lessons in your presentation, not just rewriting a general blurb. Here’s a good example from a presentation by Adele Nelson of Share Our Strength at our recent Peer-to-Peer Professional Forum conference:
Key Learnings
- Chefs Cycle has been successful in its growth over the past three years due to the long-standing relationship No Kid Hungry has with our wide network of chefs and members of the culinary industry who have a personal interest raising money to ending childhood hunger.
- Creating a niche fundraising event for your organization can be successful especially when you focus on finding the right advocates for your organization.
- It’s important to focus on finding advocates who have an authentic relationship with the organization because it helps raise more money and it helps grow the event from year to year. When advocates are passionate about the cause and the organization, they talk about their work and they enlist others to join them in the event.
SOCIAL MEDIA LOVE
We always appreciate any social media love you can spare! The more people that attend the event, the wider your message will spread. Please include the conference hashtag #EFG2017 and/or our Twitter handle @EngageforGood in your post.
