June 22, 2106 – PR Newswire – The Whirlpool Pride annual fundraiser in Chicago for LGBT causes is coming up this weekend. Whirlpool’s Chris Rice tells WSJM News this year’s proceeds will come back to southwest Michigan to the Community AIDS Resource and Education Services, or CARES, and Mr. Friendly.
“CARES has a very broad reach across Southwest Michigan from Kalamazoo to Benton Harbor,” said Rice. “But Mr. Friendly is part of CARES. Mr. Friendly has a reach that goes across the entire world.”
Mr. Friendly, in case you were unaware, is touted as “The New Face of HIV Awareness” online. The event will be held at the World Of Whirlpool in downtown Chicago in the penthouse and on the rooftop of the Reid Murdoch Building on North LaSalle Street. Staples like the Food Network stars The Hearty Boys and Vegan Drag Queen chef Honey LaBronx will be on hand again along with Chicago entertainer DJ Moose for the first time. Tickets are $50, and are available online by following this link. There will also be a silent auction. Rice says the goal is to raise at least $5,000, and they’re already at $2,000 from internal auctions at Whirlpool.
We’ll have more with Chris Rice on WSJM News coming up Thursday afternoon.
