Women's Health/Breast Cancer Initiative: Kohl's and The American Cancer Society, Midwest Division and The Southeast Wisconsin affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Kohl’s chose to join the fight against breast cancer because of the sheer pervasiveness of this deadly disease and customer interest in the cause, as well.
In America, a little less than one in eight women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and in Kohl’s home state of Wisconsin, the breast cancer incidence rate is above the national average. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Wisconsin regardless of race, accounting for nearly one-third of all cancers diagnosed among women.
By leveraging the expertise and reach of the American Cancer Society’s Midwest Division and the Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, Kohl’s partnership with each organization aims to develop multidimensional programs specifically targeted to address the most pressing breast-related health needs of women in Wisconsin. As such, Kohl’s pledged more than $7 million over three years to the American Cancer Society’s Midwest Division and Southeast Wisconsin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
In the winning print ads below with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Kohl’s launched a ‘Words Are Your Weapon’ message, encouraging consumers to take a stronger stand against breast cancer with Kohl’s Conversations for the Cure.
Judges were struck by the effective use of pink in the print ads below and felt they communicated a strong and positive message of empowerment.
